On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founding ideologue of national unity and cultural nationalism, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led a solemn tribute ceremony at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok. The event was attended by Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Cabinet ministers, Lok Sabha MP, MLAs, dignitaries, and senior officials.

In his address, the Chief Minister remembered Dr. Mookerjee as a visionary thinker, an ardent educationist, and a staunch advocate of India's unity and integrity. “On this sacred milestone, we solemnly remember a visionary who laid the foundation for a self-reliant and united Bharat,” said Tamang.

He highlighted Dr. Mookerjee’s deep-rooted belief in swadeshi values, which continue to guide the nation’s pursuit of economic self-sufficiency. “His supreme sacrifice remains a beacon of national unity and cultural pride,” the Chief Minister added.

Paying rich tributes, Tamang emphasized that it is because of patriots like Dr. Mookerjee that India stands today as a strong, united, and prosperous nation. He also lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose guidance the contributions of such great personalities are being widely acknowledged across the country.

“The time has come for the nation to bestow upon Dr. Mookerjee the Bharat Ratna, in recognition of his invaluable service to the nation,” Tamang said.
