Sikkim Mulbasi opposes DGP’s statement on tenant document verification

Members of the Sikkim Mulbasi have expressed strong opposition to the remarks made by the Director General of Police (DGP) regarding the tenant document verification process for land parchhas and voter ID.

The organization criticized the statement, arguing that it undermines the rights of legitimate tenants and casts doubt on the transparency and fairness of the verification process. Leaders of the group raised concerns over the potential for discrimination and procedural inconsistencies in determining the legitimacy of tenants.

“The verification process must be conducted in a manner that ensures fairness and protects the rights of all residents, especially legitimate tenants,” a Sikkim Mulbasi spokesperson said.

The organization has called for a thorough review of the tenant verification procedures, urging authorities to prioritize transparency and accountability. They also demanded that the DGP clarify his remarks and engage in discussions to address the concerns raised by tenants and landholders.
