Sikkim MP Dr. Indra Hang Subba has extended heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for its decision to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in the summer of 2025. This announcement, following high-level discussions between Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, has brought renewed hope to millions of devotees who hold the pilgrimage sacred.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, known for its profound spiritual significance, symbolizes peace, devotion, and inner fulfilment for countless pilgrims. Speaking on behalf of the people of Sikkim, Dr. Subba lauded the government’s efforts, emphasizing that the potential access via Nathula Pass in East Sikkim would make the journey more convenient for devotees while enhancing the state’s role in facilitating this historic pilgrimage.

Dr. Subba also highlighted the broader implications of this decision, expressing optimism that it could pave the way for reopening the Nathula trade route. “Reopening the trade route alongside the Yatra would not only benefit pilgrims but also create economic opportunities, strengthen bilateral trade, and foster closer ties between India and China,” he stated.

He acknowledged the government’s dedication to fostering cultural and spiritual ties while urging stakeholders to prioritize infrastructure development in Sikkim to support the influx of pilgrims. Dr. Subba reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the interests of Sikkim’s people are well-represented in these discussions.
