Sikkim: Motor Vehicle Division Soreng observes second phase of National Road Safety Month

The second phase of National Road Safety Month was observed by the Motor Vehicle Division of Soreng at BAC Mangalbaria in Soreng district. The event was attended by a range of key figures, including Takuthang, Panchayat Member of Mangalbaria GPU, and the President of the North East Government Drivers Association. The program was further graced by the presence of the ASI in charge from Mangalbaria Outpost, members of the Mainline Taxi Driver Association from Mangalbaria, Kaluk and Rinchenpong, as well as the Deputy RTO and staff from the Motor Vehicle Division of Soreng.

The event aimed to raise awareness on several important topics related to road safety. Bikash Subba, MVI, spoke on the integration of Sarathi, Vahan, and Artificial Intelligence in enhancing road safety and vehicle management. Rajesh Bhujel, J.E. Mechanical, focused on road signs, signals, offenses, fines, and the technology behind Artificial Intelligence used in road safety enforcement. Additionally, Joyland Lepcha, MVI, discussed accidents and the importance of the Good Samaritan law in assisting accident victims.

As a token of appreciation, the Motor Vehicle Division Soreng presented a gift to the President of the Mangalbaria Driver Association for their continued support in promoting road safety. The event concluded with positive feedback from Mr. Gautam Tamang, President of the Northeast Government Drivers Association, who praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of such programs in improving road safety awareness.
