Sikkim: Motor Vehicle Department Gyalshing conducts road safety awareness programme

The Motor Vehicle Department, Gyalshing Division, organized a road safety awareness programme at the Community Hall in Gyalshing on Sunday. The event aimed to educate the public about traffic rules, promote responsible driving habits, and reduce road accidents in the district.
The programme was graced by Devendra Prasad Sharma, President of Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat, as the chief guest. It witnessed the participation of representatives from various drivers' associations in Gyalshing, local residents, students, and officials from the traffic police department.

The event also provided an opportunity to inform local drivers about the Sikkim Cab Booking App, emphasizing how it could benefit them in terms of efficiency and convenience.
The key speakers of the programme included Devendra Prasad Sharma, President of Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat; Mr. Ram Hang Subba, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Gyalshing Division; Mr. Norgay Bhutia, Sub-Inspector of the Police Department; and Mr. Thakurnath Guragai, Senior Programmer from the Motor Vehicle Division Head Office.
Addressing the gathering, Devendra Prasad Sharma highlighted the importance of road safety and urged drivers to follow traffic norms to prevent accidents. RTO Ram Hang Subba stressed the need for awareness and the role of the Motor Vehicle Department in ensuring safer roads. Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Norgay Bhutia spoke about traffic regulations and the responsibilities of drivers in maintaining road discipline.
