Sikkim: Mock drill on earthquake preparedness scheduled for February 13
The mock drill scenario will include earthquake-induced building damage at Nayabazar Secondary School, simulating students and staff trapped in various rooms.

The Office of the District Collector-cum-District Magistrate, Soreng District, Sikkim, has announced a mock drill on earthquake preparedness, scheduled for February 13, 2025 (Thursday), starting from 10:30 am. This exercise aims to assess and validate the district’s disaster preparedness and response mechanisms in the event of an earthquake.
The following locations have been identified for the exercise:
1. Nayabazar Secondary School
2. Zoom Fatak NDP Road
The mock drill scenario will include earthquake-induced building damage at Nayabazar Secondary School, simulating students and staff trapped in various rooms. Additionally, an earthquake-induced landslide and road blockage will be staged at Zoom Fatak NDP Road to test emergency response capabilities.
Public members are advised that traffic in and around these locations may be temporarily disrupted. The district administration requests the public’s cooperation during the exercise to ensure its smooth execution and effectiveness.
