Sikkim: Missing man's skeletal remains discovered in Rinchenpong

An inquest over the remains was conducted by the BDO of Kaluk in the presence of independent witnesses, and the remains were sent to District Hospital Gyalshing for a post-mortem examination.

Skeletal remains identified as those of Ladup Lepcha, a 43-year-old man missing since September 16, 2024, were found in a forest near Hathidunga, Rinchenpong, on January 3, 2025. The discovery was made based on the clothing worn by the deceased. Ladup was reportedly mentally unsound and had been missing for over three months.

An inquest over the remains was conducted by the BDO of Kaluk in the presence of independent witnesses, and the remains were sent to District Hospital Gyalshing for a post-mortem examination. The case has been registered as UD Case No. 01/2025 under Section 194 of BNSS, 2023, and investigations are ongoing. No arrests or detentions have been reported so far.
