Sikkim Minister Arun Upreti participates in national “Manthan Meeting” to strengthen cooperative movement

Sikkim’s Minister of Co-operation and Rural Development, Arun Kumar Upreti, participated in the prestigious “Manthan Meeting” held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Monday. The day-long national consultation was organized to commemorate the International Cooperative Year 2025 and to craft a collaborative roadmap for enhancing the cooperative movement across the country.
The event was chaired by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. He urged all states and union territories to prioritize structural reforms, transparency, and innovation in cooperative practices.
The meeting witnessed the participation of cooperation ministers and key officials from various states and union territories. Among them were Shri Krishnapal Gurjar, Union Minister of State for Cooperation, Shri Murlidhar Mohol, and Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, alongside senior bureaucrats and sectoral experts.

“Cooperatives in Sikkim have played a transformative role in empowering rural communities. We are committed to strengthening institutional capacity and adapting to new challenges with transparency and accountability,” Shri Upreti said during the deliberations.
The minister also engaged in knowledge-sharing with counterparts from other states, exploring models that promote self-reliance, efficient governance, and equitable economic participation through cooperative frameworks.
