Sikkim farmers received a boost today as the Micro Irrigation (MI) distribution program under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) was successfully conducted at BAC Nandok. This initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to improve irrigation facilities and support rural farmers across India.
In Sikkim, the program is being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay. His government has been focusing on improving the lives of farmers by providing them with better agricultural resources. The Agriculture Department is actively working to ensure that farmers in the state benefit from such schemes.
During the event, farmers were provided with water tanks to support micro irrigation. The distribution was led by Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, the MLA of 23-Shyari Constituency, along with Zilla Panchayat and Gram Panchayat members. Officials from the Agriculture Department were also present to oversee the process.
Farmers expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay and Agriculture Minister Puran Gurung for their continued efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture. They believe that such initiatives will help them improve productivity and reduce their dependence on rain-fed farming.
