A man identified as Lakp Sherpa, who had been residing with Karma Chimmi for the past decade, was found dead near the roadside leading to his residence in Lower Sumin, Pakyong District. The discovery was reported on December 19, 2024, when Chimmi filed a First Information Report (FIR).

The body was discovered lying face down, and a subsequent investigation by local authorities revealed no visible external injuries. An inquest conducted by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Rangpo and a thorough examination of the scene ruled out foul play.

During the investigation, it was noted that the deceased was a regular consumer of alcohol. An empty liquor bottle was found near the body, suggesting that Sherpa might have been intoxicated at the time of the incident. Investigators believe he likely fell approximately 10 feet off the road during the night and was unable to get up due to his condition.

The post-mortem examination was conducted at Singtam District Hospital, after which the body was handed over to Sherpa's legal guardian. The case, registered under FIR No. 34/2024 under Section 194 of the BNS Act, 2023, remains under investigation.
