Sikkim: Lingee Naamsoong Festival Men’s Open Futsal Tournament celebrates culture and sports

The 20th Day of the Lingee Naamsoong Festival Men's Open Futsal Tournament 2024-25 was celebrated with great enthusiasm, blending cultural pride and sporting excellence. The event began with a warm welcome speech by Ren. Phurba T Lepcha, President of the Lingee-Kabrey Traditional and Social Welfare Association (LKTSWA), setting the tone for a day filled with festivities.

The event featured vibrant Lepcha cultural dance performances by youth and children from Lingee, showcasing the rich traditions of the community.
Following the cultural segment, the much-awaited Futsal Tournament match took place. The first semi-final saw an intense contest between Shadow Striker FC and Dominator FC. Despite a strong challenge from Dominator FC, Shadow Striker FC triumphed with a decisive 3-0 victory, securing their spot in the finals.
In her address, Chief Guest Raj Kumari Thapa expressed her gratitude to the organizing committee and the Lepcha community of Lingee Paiyong for their warm invitation. She praised the month-long Naamsoong Festival celebrations and wished the best for the grand finale on January 10, 2025. She also commended the efforts of the committee in preserving indigenous culture, traditions, and traditional cuisine, stressing the importance of maintaining these practices for future generations.
