Sikkim Legislative Assembly Committees discuss ongoing projects and schemes

The Committee on Estimates of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly met today at the Committee meeting room in the State Legislators’ Hostel. The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Chairman, Shri Aditya Golay (Tamang), and attended by Hon’ble Member Shri Sonam Tshering Venchungpa, along with key officials from various government departments.
During the session, the Heads of Departments from Tourism & Civil Aviation, Women and Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare, Buildings & Housing, and Social Justice and Welfare presented detailed briefings to the Committee. They shared updates on ongoing projects and schemes under their respective departments. The discussions focused on the progress of these initiatives, challenges faced during implementation, and ways to ensure better outcomes for citizens across the state.
The meeting highlighted the importance of effective monitoring and planning in government projects. Committee members discussed several measures to improve the delivery of services and ensure that the benefits of development schemes reach the intended beneficiaries.
Following this, Shri Sonam Tshering Venchungpa convened a separate meeting of the Public Accounts Committee. The focus of the meeting was to review financial management, audit reports, and expenditures of government departments to ensure transparency and accountability in public spending.
