Sikkim launches SARATHI 1.0 training to promote mental health and addiction-free future

A total of 28 students (26 girls and 2 boys) from various senior secondary schools in Soreng District were selected for the first batch.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and the guidance of Aditya Golay, Area MLA for Soreng Chakung Constituency, the first batch of students’ training under Soreng District for the SARATHI 1.0 module commenced today. The three-day training program, aimed at promoting mental health and making Sikkim "addiction-free," will conclude on January 10, 2025.

A total of 28 students (26 girls and 2 boys) from various senior secondary schools in Soreng District were selected for the first batch. The participating schools include:

Kripa Salyan Senior Secondary School, Daramdin

Government Senior Secondary School, Sombaria

Nima Sherpa Memorial Senior Secondary School, Ribdi

Government Senior Secondary School, Tharpu

Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop

Government Senior Secondary School, Soreng

Government Senior Secondary School, Kaluk

On the first day of the training, Dr. Satish Rasaily, Senior Psychiatrist and Addiction Medicine Specialist at the District Hospital Singtam, addressed the students on two key topics: Reduction of Substance Misuse at School and Promotion of Mental Well-being. The sessions aimed to equip the students with the necessary knowledge and tools to contribute to a healthier, addiction-free environment in their communities.
