10,000 Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), Dairy, and Fishery Cooperative Societies were launched under the leadership of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. The nationwide initiative was inaugurated in New Delhi and celebrated simultaneously at Sahakari Bhawan in Tadong, Gangtok.

The ambitious project, spearheaded by the Ministry of Cooperation, aims to empower rural communities, particularly farmers, dairy producers, and fishery entrepreneurs. The cooperatives are envisioned to foster economic self-reliance, ensure transparency, and promote sustainable development, marking a transformative step for the rural economy.

The event in Gangtok was attended by the Rural Development Department Minister, who expressed his appreciation on social media. He highlighted the initiative's alignment with Sikkim Chief Minister P. S. Tamang’s vision for rural development.

“These societies, prioritizing transparency and accountability, will provide credit facilities, input supplies, and marketing support. This initiative will not only empower Sikkim’s farmers but also contribute to holistic growth and prosperity,” the minister said.

Integrated with national-level federations, the cooperatives are set to enhance market access, credit availability, and service delivery.
