Krishna Rai, spouse of the Chief Minister and former MLA, has strongly denied allegations that a video from a wedding reception she attended was deleted from her social media account. In a statement, she clarified that the video remains on her official page and dismissed the claims as baseless.
Rai explained that she has always viewed politics as the highest form of social work and has consistently attended social functions in good faith. She stated that whether she is invited as a guest or has an official responsibility, she makes it a point to be present. Recently, she attended the wedding reception of Pinkey Manger, sister of senior journalist Nirmal Manger, and Anand Tamang, which was held at Hotel Ramada in Gangtok. She shared that, as always, she extended her blessings to the couple and wished them a happy future. A reel from the wedding was also posted on her official page.
She categorically denied any claims that the video had been removed and stated that the accusations against her were completely false. According to her, the allegations not only attempt to misrepresent facts but also raise questions about the real intentions of those spreading such misinformation. To further substantiate her stance, she attached a link to the video, proving that it remains available on her social media timeline.
Expressing her support for Nirmal Manger, Rai described him as a highly respected journalist in Sikkim. She praised his dedication to journalism and emphasized that he has never hesitated to ask tough questions, irrespective of who is in power. She condemned any attempts to defame him, calling it an unjust attack on the values of free and ethical journalism.
Rai also urged the people of Sikkim to remain alert against those who spread false information with the aim of creating disharmony in society. She assured that the video will remain available indefinitely and reaffirmed that baseless accusations should have no place in a peaceful and harmonious society.
