Defending TATA IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made history on Friday as their 2024 Trophy Tour arrived in Gangtok for the first time ever. Fans in the picturesque capital of Sikkim witnessed the iconic IPL trophy up close, celebrating KKR’s third championship triumph.

The tour began with special visits to Rumtek Monastery and Do Drul Chorten Buddhist temple, honoring the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage. The prestigious IPL trophy was later showcased at West Point Mall on MG Road, drawing a massive crowd of passionate supporters who gathered to celebrate KKR’s latest victory.

As part of its East India tour, the Trophy Tour has been designed to connect with fans across various cities, allowing them to relive KKR’s memorable 2024 campaign. Gangtok saw enthusiastic participation, as cricket lovers took the opportunity to capture moments with the coveted trophy.

Following its stop in Gangtok, the Trophy Tour will head to Siliguri on March 2, before culminating in Kolkata on March 16—just days before KKR’s opening match of the TATA IPL 2025 season at Eden Gardens on March 22 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The Knight Riders have become a global force in T20 cricket, with four professional franchises:

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – TATA IPL

Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) – Caribbean Premier League

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) – UAE’s International League T20

Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) – USA’s Major League Cricket

KKR has lifted the TATA IPL trophy three times (2012, 2014, and 2024), while also finishing as runners-up in 2021. The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) Men’s Team has won the CPL title four times, including an undefeated championship run in 2020. The TKR Women’s Team also made history by winning the inaugural Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) in 2022.

Beyond franchise success, the Knight Riders Academy continues to scout and train young talent worldwide, helping aspiring cricketers develop their skills and fitness year-round.

The Trophy Tour serves as a tribute to KKR’s passionate fanbase, bringing the championship spirit closer to supporters across the region as the countdown to IPL 2025 begins.
