Sikkim Karatekas set to shine at Indo-Nepal Championship in Kakarevita

The Sikkim State Karate Do Association (SSKA) has announced that a strong team of 25 karatekas from Sikkim will represent the state at the 11th Indo-Nepal Karate Championship, President Cup, to be held in Kakarevita, Nepal, on August 23 and 24, 2025. The tournament is expected to draw top karate players from both countries, and the Sikkim team is aiming to make a mark with its young and talented fighters.

The athletes from Sikkim have already shown their strength in earlier competitions and have brought home medals in different categories. This time too, the medal winners of past championships are part of the squad, which gives a big boost to the team’s confidence.

Among the gold medalists representing Sikkim are Redansh Chettri, Muskan Tamang, Isha Rai, and Samima Limboo. These names have already become popular in the state’s karate circles for their discipline and sharp performance on the mat.

The silver medalists in the team include Tashi Wangchuk Bhutia, Deepa Manger, Chewang Sherpa, Ayush Tamang, Samima Limboo, and Nugesh Limboo. Their earlier achievements have shown that they can compete strongly against skilled opponents.

The bronze medal winners also form a big part of the team, bringing both experience and determination. The list includes Bibek Khadka, Dhananjay Sarkar, Ayush Bhujel, Ongden Sherpa, Tshelha Bhutia, Tsultim Dorjee Bhutia, Yeshan Dawa Sherpa, Ram Biswakarma, Nugesh Limboo, Leejerry Tamang, Abhinav Limboo, Robertson Chettri, Rishikesh Chettri, Neyara Limboo, Briksha Chettri, Alisha Bista, and Aradhya Rai. Their presence adds depth to the squad and shows the wide pool of talent Sikkim has produced in karate.

The team will be guided by Coach Sensei Binam Gurung, Sensei Bishnu Limboo, and Assistant Coach Sempai Mingso Hang Limboo. Their role is expected to be crucial in mentoring the young karatekas and preparing them mentally and physically for the championship.
