The second semi-final match of the 10th All India Chief Minister's Gold Cup Tournament took place today at the football stadium in Jorethang, as part of the ongoing Maghey Sankranti Mela, 2025. The match saw Sudeva FC Delhi face off against Jhapa XI Nepal, with Jhapa XI emerging victorious after a thrilling 2-1 win.
Mr. Delay Namgyal Barfungpa, MLA and Advisor to the Urban Development and Food & Civil Supplies Department, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by other dignitaries including Mr. Bhim Hang Limboo, Minister; Mr. Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, MLA and Advisor; Mr. N B Pradhan, MLA and Advisor; and Mr. C P Sharma, Press Advisor to the Chief Minister, as the Guests of Honour.
The event was also attended by several prominent figures, including Mr. Madan Cintury, MLA and Chief Patron of the Maghey Sankranti Mela; Mr. Biren Chandra Rai, Advisor to SBS; and Ms. Manjari Rai, Vice-President of NJNP, among others. The dignitaries were also present during a brief visit to Bangey Bazar area and later at the 'Parampara Khan-Pan Parishar Dhaftar', where souvenirs were presented to them.
The match was closely contested, and despite a strong challenge from Sudeva FC Delhi, Jhapa XI Nepal secured their place in the final. Bijay Bhujel of Jhapa XI was awarded the Man of the Match title for his outstanding performance.
In addition to the exciting football action, the event also featured an array of cultural performances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The 10th All India Chief Minister's Gold Cup Football Tournament is organized by the Namchi District Football Association, in collaboration with the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim, the Sikkim Football Association, and the Maghey Sankranti Mela organizing committee. The tournament adheres to the rules and guidelines of the All India Football Federation.
