Sikkim hosts successful CPA Zone III Executive Meeting in Gangtok
Following the meeting, a State Dinner was hosted at Samman Bhawan by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, where the guests were treated to Sikkim’s warm hospitality and cultural flavors.

The executive meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region Zone III, concluded successfully on April 3 in Gangtok, Sikkim. The high-level gathering was chaired by Mr. Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Chairman of CPA India Region Zone III. The event saw the participation of prominent parliamentary leaders and officials from the northeastern states.
Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Mr. M.N. Sherpa, and Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Mr. Biswajit Daimary, were among the key dignitaries present. The meeting also included Deputy Speakers, Secretaries, and senior officials from the state assemblies of Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, and Assam, with representatives from Manipur also attending. Together, the leaders deliberated on strengthening parliamentary practices, fostering inter-state collaboration, and addressing regional issues through a collective legislative approach.

Ahead of the conference, delegates visited the historic New Rumtek Monastery and enjoyed a lunch at Martam Village Resort. During the luncheon, officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, and Fisheries presented insights on Sikkim’s initiatives in sustainable farming and rural livelihood development.
On April 4, the post-conference program included a study tour to the iconic Nathula Pass and Tsongmo Lake. The dignitaries were accompanied by Speaker M.N. Sherpa, Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, and Advisors Kala Rai and Pamin Lepcha. The scenic visit provided the delegates with a glimpse into Sikkim’s natural beauty and strategic importance along the Indo-China border.
