Sikkim: Honey bee equipment distributed under vibrant village scheme in Mangan
The distribution event was held at the Village Administrative Centre of the 05-Rongong Tumlong Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) in Mangan District’s 29th Kabilungchok Constituency.

In a move to promote sustainable livelihoods and beekeeping, honey bees, beehives, and beekeeping suits were distributed to local residents under the Vibrant Village Scheme. The initiative was spearheaded by Honourable Area MLA and Advisor Shri Thenlay Tshering Bhutia. The distribution event was held at the Village Administrative Centre of the 05-Rongong Tumlong Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) in Mangan District’s 29th Kabilungchok Constituency.
The event witnessed the participation of key local leaders, including the Zilla Panchayat, Panchayat President, Ward Panchayat Members, and many residents from the village. The distribution was carried out in collaboration with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
This initiative is aimed at encouraging beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood option in the region. Beekeeping not only provides an additional source of income but also plays a critical role in supporting the local ecosystem. The Vibrant Village Scheme focuses on strengthening rural communities in remote areas, improving their economic conditions, and promoting environmentally friendly practices.
