Sikkim Health Minister urges vigilance amid Hepatitis A outbreak

In response to a hepatitis A outbreak, Shri G.T. Dhungel, Sikkim’s Minister for Health, Family Welfare & Culture, has issued a public appeal urging citizens to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures. Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, the minister called for collective action to contain the spread of the virus.
In an official statement, Shri Dhungel emphasized the importance of proper hygiene, safe water consumption, and healthy food practices. "Wash your hands frequently, especially after using the toilet and before eating. Drink clean, filtered water, and ensure all food is properly cooked and fruits and vegetables are thoroughly washed," he advised.
The minister also encouraged individuals experiencing symptoms of hepatitis A to seek immediate medical attention, assuring the public that healthcare teams are prepared to provide assistance.
The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has taken proactive measures to address the outbreak. "Our government is committed to preventing the spread of hepatitis A and ensuring the safety of our communities," the Minister said.
