Speaking during the 13th Foundation Day celebrations of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) at Pacheykhani, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced key developmental plans aimed at transforming the region. A grand Ram Mandir-style model is set to be constructed in Rhenock, marking what CM Tamang described as a "dream initiative." The project, expected to take three years to complete, is envisioned as a major religious and cultural landmark for the state.
During his speech, the Chief Minister expressed his enthusiasm for a series of new projects slated to commence in the region following this year’s budget session. These initiatives, he assured, will focus on improving infrastructure, bolstering economic growth, and enhancing public services, creating a well-rounded development environment for Rhenock and its people.
In line with the government's long-term vision, CM Tamang also announced plans to establish a new township in Pakyong district, which will support the state's urban expansion and future planned settlements.
The Chief Minister said that his government is committed to the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY) during his address. He assured that the scheme, which aims to provide permanent and quality housing to economically weaker sections, will be implemented inclusively, with no political bias. Regardless of political affiliations, every beneficiary who has received an SGAY token will have their houses constructed, he said.
Furthermore, CM Tamang highlighted that 20% of the total allotments under the SGAY will be reserved for those who are financially well-off, including building owners, ensuring that the initiative remains fair and accessible to all sections of society.
