Sikkim Governor pledges full support to disabled empowerment initiatives

To strengthen the support system for the disabled, Smt. Pushpanjali Gupta, Director of the Integrated Regional Skill Development Rehabilitation and Disabled Empowerment Center (CRC-Sikkim) on December 18 paid a courtesy visit to Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan. The meeting focused on the center’s ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of the disabled community in the state.

During the meeting, Gupta shared a comprehensive overview of the center's various activities, including its work in skill development, medical facilities, and educational programs tailored to the needs of disabled individuals. She also provided insights into the funding mechanisms and future plans to further expand the center’s outreach.

Governor Mathur expressed keen interest in the center’s operations and inquired about the specific ways these initiatives are benefitting the disabled. His questions centered around the effectiveness of the programs in addressing the challenges faced by disabled individuals and the solutions being provided to ensure their inclusion in society.

In response, the Governor stated the importance of continued collaboration between the center and the state government to ensure that essential facilities for the disabled are not only available but also sustainable. "Disabilities are an important part of society, and it should be our priority to provide them with all kinds of facilities and opportunities," Governor Mathur said. He assured the Director of Raj Bhavan's full cooperation in advancing the cause of disabled empowerment.

The CRC-Sikkim, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, continues to play a pivotal role in the rehabilitation and empowerment of disabled individuals, working towards a more inclusive and accessible society.
