Sikkim: Government ITI Rangpo successfully concludes Annual Sports Week with grand closing ceremony

The Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Rangpo successfully completed its Annual Sports Week on February 24, marking the end of a week-long celebration of sports, enthusiasm, and teamwork. The event, held from February 17 to 24, saw active participation from students and faculty members. It aimed to highlight the importance of physical fitness, discipline, and cooperation.

The grand closing ceremony was attended by several important guests. Shri Bibek Chettri, Hon’ble Zilla President, was the Chief Guest of the event. Other dignitaries included SHO Shri Neeraj Khatiwata from Rangpo Police Station, Smt. Arati Darjee, Zilla of West Pendam Constituency, Shri Hari Dangal, Vice President of the Sikkim Labour Wing, Shri Nirmal Bajgai, Panchayat Member of Syapley Ward, and MVI Shri Mahendra Kharel from Rangpo.

During his speech, Chief Guest Shri Bibek Chettri spoke about the significance of sports in developing discipline, resilience, and teamwork among students. He encouraged trainees to take part in physical activities along with their academic studies. He also conveyed the best wishes of Hon’ble MLA Shri L.B. Das to all trainees and faculty members of ITI Rangpo, appreciating their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the Sports Week.

The event included various sports competitions where students showed great sportsmanship and determination. Winners were honored with awards and certificates for their excellent performances, encouraging others to excel in both academics and extracurricular activities.

A special awareness session was also conducted during the event. The session was led by the Coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club Sikkim and focused on important topics such as substance abuse, suicide prevention, and HIV awareness. The interactive session helped educate and motivate students to make better life choices and stay away from harmful habits.

The Principal of ITI Rangpo, Shri Chandan Bajgai, addressed the gathering and spoke about the progress and achievements of the institute over the last five years. He highlighted the advancements made in academics, skill development, and extracurricular activities, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to providing holistic education.

He also emphasized the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), encouraging students to become job creators instead of just job seekers. He urged them to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and develop industry-relevant skills that would contribute to the growth of the region’s economy.
