The Government of Sikkim has announced an increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners. The decision comes as part of the government's commitment to ensuring financial relief amid rising costs of living.
According to an official circular issued by the Finance Department, the DA for employees and pensioners receiving salaries based on the pre-revised pay structure will be raised from 239% to 246%. This change will be effective from July 1, 2024. Similarly, for those drawing salaries under the revised pay structure, the DA will be increased from 50% to 53%, effective from the same date.
The announcement also applies to contractual employees and those in work-charged establishments who are receiving salaries under the revised pay structure. The increase in DA will also benefit All India Service Officers, with those drawing salaries as per the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC) guidelines seeing their DA raised from 239% to 246%, while those under the 7th CPC will have their DA increased from 50% to 53%.
The Finance Department has clarified that the DA will be rounded off in cases where the amount includes fractions of rupees. Any amount with a fraction of 50 paise or more will be rounded to the next rupee, while fractions below 50 paise will be ignored.
