The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Sikkim Government College, Burtuk has made a fervent appeal to the State Government, seeking immediate intervention to address long-standing infrastructure issues faced by the institution.
Led by the SRC President, the student delegation submitted their concerns, stressing the urgent need for comprehensive infrastructure development. Among the top priorities listed were the repair and maintenance of the college's approach road, which has become increasingly difficult to navigate, particularly during monsoons. They also sought the upgradation of the college auditorium, which currently lacks adequate facilities to host academic and cultural events.
Additionally, the council highlighted the poor condition of the college playground and called for its proper development to encourage sports and physical activities. Another major demand was the modernization of the college’s outdated computer systems to support students' academic and technical learning in a digitally advancing world.
The student body stated that such improvements are essential for fostering a better learning environment and enabling holistic development. “Our college has immense potential, but infrastructure bottlenecks continue to limit opportunities. We urge the State Government to take timely action,” a member of the SRC said.
