Under the guidance of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, preparations are in full swing for the much-anticipated visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sikkim on May 29. Paljor Stadium, the heart of Gangtok, is being transformed into a vibrant venue for the historic public event, with key leaders of the state government supervising every detail.

SIMFED Chairman Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia visited the stadium earlier this week to assess the progress of ongoing arrangements. Speaking to the media, Bhutia shared his excitement over the Prime Minister’s visit, stating that all preparations are being meticulously managed to ensure a smooth and memorable event.

Joining the effort are a host of senior leaders and dignitaries, including Hon’ble Ministers Arun Upreti, Nar Bahadur Dahal, Samdup Lepcha, Bhim Hang Limboo, Pintso N. Lepcha and Puran Gurung; MLAs Sanjeet Kharel, Sonam Venzongpa and Riksal Dorjee Bhutia; and Deputy Mayor Tshering Palden.

From stage setup and security to crowd management and cultural showcases, various departments are working in close coordination. Paljor Stadium is being adorned with traditional Sikkimese décor and national colors, symbolizing unity and pride. The event is expected to witness significant public participation and may include key announcements by the Prime Minister relating to the region’s development.

“The entire administration is working with a sense of duty and celebration,” a senior official from the organizing committee said. “We are committed to presenting Sikkim in its best light.”
