In what is set to be a landmark moment in Sikkim's social and political history, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party has finalized preparations for the upcoming Aama Samman Diwas, to be celebrated on August 10, 2025, at Rangpo Playground. This large-scale event will be held on the eve of Jan Unmukti Diwas and is expected to draw the largest-ever public gathering in the state's history.

The final review meeting for the event took place today under the chairmanship of SKM’s Working President Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha, alongside Secretary General Shri Arun Upreti, Hon’ble Speaker Shri M.N. Sherpa, Deputy Speaker Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, and several ministers, MLAs, party executives, advisors, secretaries, and representatives of various frontal organizations. The gathering also saw the participation of officials from Party HQ, District and Constituency Level Committees, Nari and Yuva Wings, and other support teams.

During the meeting, each sub-committee presented progress reports. Departments in charge of essential functions like pandal setup, seating, food and catering, traffic management, transportation, water supply, sanitation, and volunteer coordination updated the leadership on their preparations. The Women & Child Development Department is the main organizer of the event, but the SKM party is playing a vital supporting role, offering full organizational and logistical backing to ensure the day’s success.

What makes this year’s Aama Samman Diwas truly special is its exclusive dedication to mothers. Sikkim will become the first state in India to hold such a grand and inclusive public celebration to honour mothers for their unconditional love, tireless care, and sacrifices.

Under the dynamic and compassionate leadership of Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), the state will also launch two flagship welfare schemes for mothers during the celebration:

Sikkim Aama Sasaktikaran Yojana – Through the Women & Child Development Department, over 32,000 mothers across the state will receive their first installment of financial aid via direct cheque distribution.

Sikkim Aama Sahayog Yojana – Implemented by the Rural Management and Development Department (RMD), this scheme will provide four LPG cylinder refills per year to more than 4,200 mothers.

These initiatives highlight the government’s deep commitment to women’s welfare and empowerment, showcasing how social support can be effectively delivered with compassion and vision. The launch of these schemes is seen as an important step in improving the daily lives of thousands of families, especially those from rural and economically weaker sections.
