Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) President and former Chief Minister of Sikkim, Pawan Chamling met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee at Nabanna, the state secretariat on January 14. In the meeting that was described as both political and courteous, discussions were held on mutual interests and the potential for future collaboration between the two states.
Taking to social media, Mamta Banerjee expressed her honor in meeting Chamling, who served as the Chief Minister of Sikkim for an unprecedented 25 years, from 1994 to 2019. Banerjee noted that the interaction was not only politically enriching but also stated their shared commitment to safeguarding democratic values and constitutional rights.
According to an insider from the Sikkim Democratic Front, both leaders discussed matters of regional politics and the importance of protecting the constitutional rights of the states. Chamling also extended an invitation to Banerjee to visit Sikkim, underlining the potential for further collaboration between Sikkim and West Bengal.
