Ren. Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister for Forest and Environment cum MLA of Dzongu, inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Phee Khola bridge near Phidang village in Dzongu, North Sikkim, on February 23, 2025. The bridge, which was severely damaged on February 20 due to continuous heavy rainfall, is being rebuilt by the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

During the inspection, the Officer Commander of the project assured the Minister that the restoration work would be completed by tomorrow evening, emphasizing that efforts are underway at a war-footing pace.

The Phee Khola bridge serves as a crucial route for the region, especially after the Sangkalang bridge was damaged earlier, making it a vital lifeline for residents and transport connectivity. The reconstruction of this bridge is expected to bring significant relief to the people of Dzongu, ensuring smoother movement of goods and services.
