A fire broke out at MG Marg in Gangtok on January 24 evening around 7:20 PM, reportedly caused by a short circuit near the Tashi Delek Hotel. The incident prompted swift action from local shopkeepers and emergency responders.
Before the fire tenders arrived, neighboring shops utilized portable fire extinguishers to manage the flames. Two fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, where a response team led by Fire Station Officer Bishal Rai, consisting of 13 firefighters, worked diligently to control the fire.
