Aspiring and established entrepreneurs from across Sikkim gathered on February 5th for a comprehensive awareness program and workshop organized by the Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Cell (SEEDCELL). The event, held in Pakyong District, focused on a range of crucial government initiatives designed to boost Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and foster economic growth in the state.
The workshop was a key component of the Raising and Accelerating MSMEs Performance (RAMP) Program, a government initiative aimed at strengthening the MSME sector. Participants received detailed information on several important schemes, including the RAMP program itself, the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, the PM Vishwakarma scheme for traditional artisans and craftspeople, the Sikkim Youth Startup Scheme (SYSS), and the UNNATI scheme, which supports industrial development in Sikkim.
Beyond these specific programs, the workshop also provided valuable guidance on essential business-related topics such as obtaining a Permanent Account Number (PAN), understanding the Goods and Services Tax (GST), and navigating the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for procurement.
The event was a collaborative effort between SEEDCELL and the Commerce and Industries Department of the Government of Sikkim. Notable attendees included the Hon'ble Zilla Adakshya of Pakyong District, the General Manager of DIC Pakyong District, and the Chief Coordinator of SEEDCELL, highlighting the importance of the initiative and the commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs.
The primary objective of the workshop was to raise awareness about the diverse range of support available to entrepreneurs through both Central and State government schemes. Organizers aimed to ensure that entrepreneurs, as well as members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Panchayat representatives, were well-informed about the opportunities available to them.
