District Collector Dhiraj Subedi officially flagged off the Financial Literacy Week Mobile Van in Soreng, marking the launch of a crucial initiative under the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) financial awareness campaign. This year, the theme focuses on "Financial Literacy: Women’s Prosperity," emphasizing the role of financial education in empowering women.

The event took place at the District Administration Centre (DAC) in Soreng and saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Superintendent of Police Nahkul Pradhan, SDM Soreng Sakchum Lepcha, RBI Manager Aditi Haldar, Assistant Manager Jharna Thapa, and other officials.

In his address, DC Subedi expressed gratitude to the RBI team, highlighting the importance of financial awareness in accelerating economic growth. He noted that as an Aspirational District, Soreng stands to benefit significantly from such initiatives, which help bridge financial gaps by promoting banking services, digital transactions, and financial literacy programs. He further emphasized that these efforts will support local businesses, farmers, and self-help groups in achieving financial independence.

It is noteworthy that the RBI is observing Financial Literacy Week (FLW) 2025 from February 24 to 28, marking the 10th edition of the annual initiative. The campaign particularly focuses on enhancing financial knowledge among homemakers, working women, and women entrepreneurs, equipping them with essential financial tools and decision-making skills.
