Sikkim dancers step into spotlight as ‘Clash of Dancers’ auditions begin in Gangtok

The vibrant spirit of dance came alive in Sikkim as auditions for the international dance competition “Clash of Dancers” began today at Manan Kendra, Gangtok. The event, organized by the SKM Cultural Wing under the leadership and encouragement of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), marks a significant platform for the state’s youth to showcase their artistic potential on a global stage.
The opening ceremony was graced by Chairman Shri Tashi Tshering Bhutia, who officially launched the two-day audition programme. A total of 74 enthusiastic participants took to the stage on the first day, delivering dynamic performances across a range of dance styles. Contestants competed in solo, duo, trio, and group formats, aiming to secure a place among the top ten who will represent Sikkim at the grand finale in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Several key figures from the SKM Cultural Wing were present, including President Shri Uttam Pradhan, Vice President Dr. Manoj Rai, Coordinator Shri Manoj Lama, Convenor Das Tamang, Secretary 1 Sushri Komal Gurung, Secretary 2 Shri Kiran Lepcha, and Secretary (Organization 2) Srijana Basnett. Their collective efforts and presence reflected the state government’s continued commitment to nurturing cultural talent and empowering the creative youth of Sikkim.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Tashi Tshering Bhutia expressed confidence in the talent pool of the region. “Sikkim has always been a land rich in culture and creativity. Through platforms like ‘Clash of Dancers’, we hope to offer our youth the recognition and opportunities they truly deserve,” he said.
