The All Sikkim Government CPF Employees Welfare Association has extended a heartfelt welcome to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on the grand occasion of the 50th year of Sikkim’s statehood. In a warm message filled with gratitude and hope, the association expressed joy over the Prime Minister’s visit to the Himalayan state and conveyed their deep admiration for his visionary leadership.
The golden jubilee of Sikkim’s statehood marks a historic moment for the state, which officially became the 22nd state of the Indian Union in 1975. As part of this milestone celebration, the Central Executive Committee and all members of the CPF Employees Welfare Association issued a welcome message that praised the Prime Minister for his commitment to national development and inclusive governance.
“We feel truly blessed by the presence of such a dynamic and inspiring leader,” the message read. “The people of Sikkim hold the Prime Minister in the highest regard, and his visit on this special occasion is an honour for every citizen.”
Along with their welcome, the CPF employees also took the opportunity to make a heartfelt appeal to the Prime Minister. The association expressed its hope that Shri Modi would consider the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for Sikkim Government employees as a meaningful and commemorative gesture to mark the 50th year of statehood.
The Old Pension Scheme, which was replaced by the New Pension Scheme (NPS) in the early 2000s, has been a long-standing demand among many sections of government employees across the country. In Sikkim, CPF (Contributory Provident Fund) employees have been actively voicing their concerns about pension security and have been seeking the revival of the more secure and beneficial OPS framework.
The association stated that restoring the Old Pension Scheme would not only benefit thousands of employees but also serve as a powerful symbol of care and commitment from the central leadership to the people of Sikkim.
“This golden jubilee is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion. We hope that the Hon’ble Prime Minister will look into our request with compassion and give us a reason to celebrate this historic moment with even greater joy,” the message read.
