A Basic Training and Orientation Programme on Office Rules, Procedures, and Accounts was inaugurated at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) for staff of the Commerce & Industries Department and District Industries Centres (DICs) from Gangtok, Mangan, and Pakyong. The initiative is part of the Sikkim INSPIRES Programme and aims to enhance the efficiency and professionalism of departmental staff.

The training, led by C.L. Sharma, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Personnel, focuses on equipping participants with skills to effectively implement state and central sector schemes, including Start-Up Sikkim Yuva Sashaktikaran Scheme (SYSS), UNNATI, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), and Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME).

Speaking at the event, Sharma spoke on the importance of capacity building in achieving the state’s vision of inclusive economic growth. “Through this training, we aim to empower our staff to provide efficient support to entrepreneurs and businesses across Sikkim, ensuring effective delivery of services and benefits,” he stated.

The programme is part of a larger effort to establish District Industries Centres in all district headquarters. These centers will serve as hubs for business support, offering financial assistance, marketing and branding aid, skill development opportunities, and capacity-building initiatives. The initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and ensuring equitable economic development across the state.

Staff from DICs in Namchi, Soreng, and Gyalshing are scheduled to undergo similar training sessions in the coming weeks, ensuring uniformity in skills and services across districts.
