Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang welcomed Hari Chandra Chettri, a senior member and District Vice President of the Citizen Action Party (CAP), into the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM). Shri Chettri, who contested the 2024 General Elections from the Namthang-Ratepani Constituency on a CAP ticket, officially joined the SKM family in the presence of Area MLA and Government Advisor Shri Sanjit Kharel.

The Chief Minister praised Chettri’s decision as a step towards unity and inclusive governance. "By joining our SKM family, Hari Chandra Chettri affirms a common belief in progressive values, inclusive politics, and governance rooted in the needs of the people," CM Tamang said in a statement.

Chettri hails from Passi Namthang in Namchi district and is well known for his grassroots political work. His joining is expected to strengthen the SKM’s position in the region, especially among the electorate of southern Sikkim. Local supporters and party workers welcomed the move, hailing it as a sign of growing faith in SKM’s vision for development and transparent governance.

Chief Minister Tamang further said, “Together, with unity, integrity, and a shared commitment to public service, we will work towards transformative change, driving development across Sikkim and advancing the welfare of every Sikkimese citizen.”
