Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim and the nation on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, 2025, highlighting the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” as a powerful reminder of yoga’s role in nurturing both individual well-being and collective harmony.

In a statement issued on June 21, the Chief Minister reflected on yoga’s enduring significance as a holistic discipline that connects the body, mind, and spirit. “Yoga offers a sustainable, natural path to inner peace, resilience, and an improved quality of life,” Tamang said, encouraging citizens to adopt the ancient practice into their daily lives.

He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership in bringing global recognition to yoga, recalling the historic 2014 declaration by the United Nations General Assembly that designated June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. “It is a testament to India’s time-honoured contribution to global wellness traditions,” he said.

Tamang also praised the efforts of the AYUSH Mission under the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department for promoting traditional health systems and practices across Sikkim. “Their consistent outreach and community engagement have significantly contributed to fostering a healthier and more conscious population,” he noted.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the theme for this year — aligning yoga with planetary and individual health — resonates deeply in today’s fast-changing world where physical and mental well-being are being increasingly tested. He called upon people of all age groups, especially the youth, to embrace yoga not merely as a fitness routine but as a way of life.

Across Sikkim, yoga camps and awareness programmes were held to mark the occasion, with participation from schools, government institutions, and community organizations. The events saw wide public participation, reinforcing the growing interest in yoga as a tool for building mental resilience and community cohesion.
