Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated the new Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office at Mangalbaria in Soreng district on Sunday. The inauguration ceremony was attended by local leaders, officials, and a large number of residents from Rinchenpong Constituency and nearby areas.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Tamang said that it was a matter of great honour and happiness for him to inaugurate the new Centre. He mentioned that the Centre would bring administration closer to the people, making government services faster, more efficient, and easily accessible. "This Centre will serve as a vital institution to bring administration closer to the people, ensuring better service delivery, efficiency, and ease of governance," he said.

The Chief Minister, who had earlier served as the MLA and Minister from Rinchenpong for three consecutive terms, shared that the event was also very personal and emotional for him. "It was a truly heartwarming experience to reconnect with the community where I had the honour of serving," he said. Meeting familiar faces and seeing the continued progress of the region filled him with immense pride and gratitude.

He described the occasion as a meaningful moment, not just for administrative development, but also for reflecting on the strong bond he shares with the people of Rinchenpong. "The event marked a significant milestone for the administrative development of the area and also offered a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the shared journey and enduring bonds with the people I had the fortune to represent and work alongside," he added.

Emphasizing the importance of sincerity and efficiency in public service, the Chief Minister urged all employees of the new SDM Office, and all government staff across Sikkim, to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the people. Quoting the phrase "Work is worship," he said, "I urge all employees to serve with sincerity, efficiency, and compassion. Let us ensure that no citizen is made to wait unnecessarily or linger for long hours to accomplish even small tasks."

He stressed that government work must be carried out with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. He called upon all departments to focus on timely and smooth delivery of services, making life easier for the common people.

On this special occasion, Chief Minister Tamang extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of the constituency, led by the Hon’ble MLA, as well as to the Soreng District Administration and the Mangalbaria Sub-Divisional Administration. He praised the collective efforts of all public representatives, stakeholders, and officials whose hard work had made the new Centre a reality.

He expressed hope that this new beginning would inspire everyone to work even harder towards building a responsive, accountable, and people-centric governance model in the state. "May this Centre stand as a symbol of our commitment to inclusive development and good governance," he concluded.

The local people welcomed the new SDM Office with great enthusiasm. Many residents expressed that the Centre would make a huge difference in their lives by making government services easily available within their locality. Earlier, people had to travel long distances and spend valuable time to get their administrative work done. Now, with the Centre functioning at Mangalbaria, services will be quicker, easier, and more efficient.

The inauguration of the SDM Office is being seen as a big step towards strengthening administrative infrastructure in the newly created Soreng district. It also highlights the Sikkim government's larger efforts to improve service delivery, ensure efficient governance, and reach the last citizen living in far-flung areas.
