Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang joined other regional leaders at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, held at the iconic Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event, which saw the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and key Union Ministers, is being seen as a big step toward unlocking the economic potential of the North Eastern states.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the summit and, in his speech, described Rising Northeast not just as a business event, but as a movement. He said the summit is aimed at boosting development in the region by focusing on infrastructure, innovation, startups, and inclusive growth. “This is a turning point for the Northeast,” he noted, encouraging investors from across the country and abroad to explore the many opportunities available in the region.
Chief Minister Tamang expressed deep appreciation for the Centre’s commitment to the Northeast. “It was a great honour to attend the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025. This platform gives us a chance to connect with national and global investors and will help open new doors for the people of Sikkim,” he said.
Tamang added that the summit reflects a shared goal of building a self-reliant and strong future for the entire region. He pointed out that Sikkim, along with the other seven Northeastern states, is ready to move forward with renewed hope and confidence. “We are proud to be a part of this vision and we will continue to work hard for the benefit of our farmers, youth, entrepreneurs, and local communities,” he added.
Union Minister for Communications and Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, also spoke during the summit and praised the resilience and talent of the people in the Northeast. He stressed that the government remains fully committed to ensuring that the region becomes a key contributor to India’s economic success.
All eight Chief Ministers from the Northeastern states attended the summit, making it a rare and important gathering of regional leaders focused on one goal accelerating growth and development in the Northeast.
