Sikkim CM flags off Buddhist monks delegation to Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela 2025

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on February 3, 2025, flagged off a delegation of 30 Buddhist monks from Sikkim to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela, one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world. The delegation, which includes two officials from the Ecclesiastical Department, will represent Sikkim at the event, continuing until February 7, 2025.

This initiative highlights the importance of spiritual exchanges and the shared cultural heritage between Sikkim and other regions of India. The Mahakumbh Mela, held once every 12 years, draws millions of pilgrims from across the country and the world, serving as a platform for religious and cultural dialogues.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed his best wishes to the delegation and stated the significance of such exchanges in strengthening Sikkim’s rich Buddhist heritage while promoting peace and harmony.
