Sikkim CM congratulates folk artist Naren Gurung on Padma Shri Award

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extended his heartfelt congratulations to Shri Naren Gurung, the renowned folk dancer and singer of Sikkim, for being honored with the prestigious Padma Shri Award. The award was conferred upon Gurung by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in a special ceremony held in New Delhi.

The Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards, was presented to Gurung for his significant role in enriching the cultural fabric of Sikkim. As a folk dancer and singer, Gurung has been instrumental in keeping traditional Sikkimese art forms alive, passing them on to new generations, and showcasing them on national and international platforms.
