Sikkim CM attends 8th North-East Youth Festival closing ceremony

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of education, skill development, entrepreneurship, tourism, and cultural preservation for the youth.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang attended the closing ceremony of the 8th North-East Youth Festival at Paljor Stadium. Union Minister of State Raksha Nikhil Khadse was also present at the event, which celebrated youth empowerment, cultural exchange, and national integration.

Speaking at the event, CM Tamang highlighted the festival’s theme, “Empower Youth, Empower Region – My Bharat, Viksit Bharat,” and said it aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He praised the Prime Minister for transforming the Northeast since 2014, improving infrastructure, connectivity, and economic opportunities for young people. He also thanked the PM for recognizing the Northeast as ‘Ashta Lakshmi’ and for supporting initiatives like UNNATI 2024, StartUp India, and StandUp India.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of education, skill development, entrepreneurship, tourism, and cultural preservation for the youth. He said the Northeast has a rich heritage, talented athletes, and great potential for eco-tourism and sustainable development. He encouraged young people to take leadership roles and contribute to India’s progress.

CM Tamang also expressed gratitude to Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Governor Om Prakash Mathur, and Union MoS Raksha Nikhil Khadse for their support. He acknowledged Dr. Mandaviya’s contribution, despite his absence due to unavoidable circumstances.

He described the festival as more than just an event, calling it a platform for young people to share ideas, celebrate diverse cultures, and work towards a stronger Northeast and India. He reaffirmed his commitment to working together for a better future and urged the youth to dream big and take bold steps to build a developed India.
