Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Thursday unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at aiding Agniveers and retired personnel. During the valedictory session of the Military-Civil Fusion Convergence Capsule at Chintan Bhawan, CM Tamang declared a 20% reservation for Agniveers in the upcoming recruitment for Sikkim Police Constables.

This decision is set to provide Agniveers, who have served in the Armed Forces under the government's Agnipath Scheme, with a significant opportunity to transition into civilian service, especially in the state's law enforcement sector.

Further extending his support, CM Tamang introduced a 10-year relaxation in the standard upper age limit for recruitment to Sikkim Police Constable posts. Ex-servicemen who have served at least six months in the Armed Forces will now be eligible to apply for these posts until the age of 50, offering them a broader chance to pursue a career in the state's police force.

In a bid to ensure the financial well-being of ex-servicemen post-retirement, the Chief Minister also announced a shop allotment initiative. This will provide ex-servicemen with opportunities to establish businesses and earn a livelihood once their military service ends. The initiative is expected to foster self-reliance and support the veterans in their transition to civilian life.
