A team of Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL) workers from Sikkim successfully completed a six-day exposure visit to Assam from March 23 to March 28 under the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) initiative, in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI) and Crisil Foundation, with financial support from NABARD.
The delegation comprised 18 CFL workers from six Face-2 CFLs in Sikkim, accompanied by MIS Officer Ganesh Chettri and two Community-Based Organizers (CBOs), Dhan Kumari Rai and Passang Tshering Bhutia, making a total of 23 members.
During the visit, the team engaged in discussions with Project Director Amita Abichandani, Zonal Head Dulen Boruah, and other officials from Crisil Foundation, reviewing the progress of financial literacy initiatives in Sikkim and exploring strategies for future implementation. They also toured CFL Centres in Central and Upper Assam, exchanging ideas and best practices with their counterparts to enhance financial literacy programs in their respective states.
A key focus of the visit was the Mein Pragati project, which has been operational in Majuli, Assam, since 2019 and is now set to be implemented in various districts of Sikkim, particularly targeting economically backward areas.
Apart from their field visits, the Sikkim team also explored local handicraft industries and tourist attractions in Assam, gaining insights into the region’s economic landscape.
