Sikkim celebrates 76th Republic Day with patriotic fervor

The state of Sikkim marked the 76th Republic Day with grandeur and patriotism at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led the celebrations, emphasizing the values of freedom, unity, and national pride.

In a separate ceremony earlier in the day, the Chief Minister hoisted the national flag at his residential office. Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, he stated, "On the auspicious occasion of the 76th Republic Day, I had the honor of participating in a patriotic ceremony, proudly hoisting the revered national flag at my residential office. This moment was a profound tribute to our nation’s freedom, unity, and the enduring spirit of its people."

The official ceremony at Paljor Stadium began with a Guard of Honour presented by the Indian Reserve Battalion in the presence of Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur.

The tricolor stood tall as a powerful symbol of India's sovereignty, evoking memories of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters. "The flag is a reminder of the liberty and dignity secured through immense struggles and unwavering dedication," said the Chief Minister.

The event also featured cultural performances by local artists, showcasing Sikkim's rich heritage and unity in diversity. Schoolchildren, government officials, and citizens from all walks of life gathered to celebrate the day with enthusiasm and patriotism.
