Sikkim celebrates 50 years of statehood with special silver coin and postage stamp

On the special occasion of Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee of Statehood, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced the release of a ₹50 silver coin and a special commemorative postage stamp. The unveiling was done virtually, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi joining the ceremony from Bagdogra.

Chief Minister Tamang expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his thoughtful participation in the celebrations. “I sincerely thank Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for his kind gesture in commemorating this important milestone with the release of a ₹50 silver coin and a special postage stamp,” he said. He described these items as symbols that honor Sikkim’s journey of integration into India, its progress over the years, and the rich cultural pride of the state.
