The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has successfully restored road connectivity to North Sikkim after the collapse of the old Pheechu bridge on the Dikchu-Sanklang-Shipgyer road. The bridge, originally constructed in 1966 by the state Public Works Department (PWD), gave way due to the movement of overloaded vehicles, cutting off vital access to the region.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the dedicated workers of Project Swastik under BRO immediately sprang into action. With remarkable speed, they mobilized bridge construction materials and heavy machinery from various sectors to the affected site. Despite facing adverse weather conditions, including heavy rains and extreme cold, the team worked tirelessly round the clock to restore the crucial link.

Their relentless efforts resulted in the successful installation of a 60-foot Bailey bridge at Pheechu, bringing much-needed relief to the people of North Sikkim. This swift response has once again highlighted the commitment of Project Swastik to ensuring road connectivity in the challenging terrain of the Himalayan region.
