Sikkim Assembly to take up nills on education reforms and anti-corruption in special session
The government will introduce the Scholars University of Skills and Innovation, Sikkim Bill, 2025, to establish a new university focused on skill development, research, and innovation.

The Sikkim Legislative Assembly will convene a special one-day session on June 30, 2025, with a focused agenda to strengthen the state’s education sector and intensify anti-corruption efforts. The session, to be chaired by Speaker MN Sherpa, will include the introduction of two key bills and the presentation of the Annual Audit Report.
The government will introduce the Scholars University of Skills and Innovation, Sikkim Bill, 2025, to establish a new university focused on skill development, research, and innovation. The proposed institution is expected to create new academic and career opportunities for Sikkimese youth, especially in technical and job-oriented fields.
The Sikkim Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2025 will also be introduced by Law Minister Raju Basnet. The amendment aims to strengthen the state’s anti-corruption watchdog by expanding its powers and making it more efficient in handling cases against public officials. The bill may be taken up for consideration and passing during the same session.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang is also expected to present the Annual Consolidated Audit Report for the financial year 2023–24. The report will provide a detailed review of the financial functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipalities across the state.
