Sikkim Assembly passes 8 Bills, CM Tamang expresses gratitude

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed his gratitude to the members of the Legislative Assembly following the successful conclusion of the One-Day Special Session held on February 21. The session, convened to address the Supplementary Demands for Grants, saw the unanimous passage of several crucial bills.
Chief Minister Tamang said, "With the successful conclusion of the One-Day Special Session convened for the Supplementary Demands for Grants, I extend my sincere gratitude to all Hon’ble Members for their participation and commitment to upholding the dignity of this Assembly."
The bills passed during the session included:
1. Sikkim Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2025
2. Swastik University, Sikkim Bill, 2025
3. Trident University of Applied Sciences Sikkim Bill, 2025
4. Shri Venkateswara University Bill, 2025
5. Sikkim Model Schools Bill, 2025
6. Sikkim Public Demands Recovery (Amendment) Bill, 2025
7. Sikkim Municipalities Amendment Bill, 2025
8. Mahatma Gandhi University Sikkim (Amendment) Bill, 2025
The Assembly also passed the First Supplementary Demands for Grants for FY 2024-25 and the Sikkim Appropriation Bill, 2025.
Moreover, the Separate Audit Report and Annual Accounts of the Sikkim Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited, along with the Comptroller and Auditor General’s Report on Financial and Energy Management by the Power Department, were tabled.
Several annual reports were also presented, including those from the State Pollution Control Board for 2022-23 and 2023-24 and the Sikkim Public Service Commission for 2022-23.
CM Tamang extended special thanks to Hon’ble Speaker M. N. Sherpa for presiding over the session, Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa for her support and all ministers and MLAs for their active participation.
"I deeply appreciate the efforts of the Sikkim Legislative Secretariat officials and employees who ensured the smooth conduct of the session," he said.
